Solving a Complex Leadership Conflict

Our client was an oil company navigating the tension between established structures and fresh perspectives. In their retail chain department, a new leader initially struggled but courageously confronted what was necessary to rebuild lost confidence. Her chief executive wisely participated in the core workshop as well, which aimed to secure unanimous support for moving forward with the current leadership.

This transformation wasn't achieved through shortcuts or by avoiding difficult truths, but by working directly through realities as they were perceived—in the most authentic and sensitive manner possible.

We had prepared for this pivotal session through interviews and conversations over a month, gathering the missing pieces to comprehensively understand all needs and challenges. As the process unfolded, we even gained the support of team members deeply rooted in the old structure—an outcome that exceeded expectations.

This intervention took place just before their annual client event, where these 22 retail leaders would interface with 400 client representatives at an annual international company event. The conflict resolution was therefore crucial to "save the day", and its value—both in timing and outcome—proved immeasurable. We're grateful to have contributed to this transformative business culture and leadership development.
